The School of Democracy
The School of Democracy project has been the main project of the World Citizen Foundation in recent years. Its goal is to operationalize the principles of world citizenship, i.e. human dignity and the souvereignty of the people, and to train independant professionals who will be able to apply those principles to solve political problems in the real world.
- 2004, 30th of April: Founding of the School of Democracy in Strasbourg.
- 2004, 4th of September: Proposal for inclusion in the European Union budget. First vote in the Foreign Affairs Commission (AFET). Result: positive
- 2006: Budget Committee of the European Parliament curtails the allowance.
- 2007: Working Group on Curriculum
- 2009: "Democracy Engeneering" is officially introduced to Sciences Po Strasbourg, France on first year Masters level.
- 2010, January: Master class "Ingénierie démocratique (en Anglais)" starts at Sciences Po Strasbourg, France.
- 2010, Spring: Approval for a class during winter term 2010/11 at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität, Freiburg.
- 2010, Spring: Approval for a class during winter term 2010/11 at the Institut des Hautes Études Européennes - IHEE at the Université de Strasbourg, France.
- 2010, October- 2011, March: Class "Introduction to democracy engineering" at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Germany.
- 2010 Winter Term: Class "Principes fondamentaux de l'ingénierie démocratique" at the Institut des Hautes Études Européennes - IHEE at the Université de Strasbourg, France.
- 2011, January: 2nd Master class "Ingénierie démocratique (en Anglais)" starts at Sciences Po Strasbourg, France (voted most popular optional class in 2010).
